I know there is a thread somewhere bout poetry, but can't place it right now. I have been helping my daughter do a project on the Navajo Indians and came accross this poem which i thought was very powerful and inspiring, so thought i would share it with others. I don't know who wrote it but maybe someone here does.
Where will our children live.
A lonesome warrior stands in fear of what the future brings, He will never hear the beating drums or the songs his brothers sing. Our many nations once stood tall and ranged from shore to shore But most are gone and few remain and the buffalo roam no more, We shared our food and our land and gave with open hearts We wanted peace and love and hope, but all were torn apart. All this was taken because we did not know what the white man had instore, They killed our people and raped our lands and the buffalo roam no more. But those of us who still remain hold our heads up high, And the spirits of the elders flow through us as if they never died. Our dreams will live on forever and our nations will be reborn, Our bone and beads and feathers all will be proudly worn. If you listen close you will hear the drums and songs upon the winds, And in the distance you will see...the buffalo roam again.

Very powerful. Nice find.
Makes me sad to think of what they did. And the united states of embrassment praises these people. Who was the real savages?

Thanks very much for the responses. I felt quite moved by this little verse. Made me think very much bout how the world has been shaped by corporate big wigs who think they have a need to control and dehumanise others. It is more important now than ever for the indigenous people to stand up in a strong united front and take back what truely and rightfully belongs to them.

Thank you for that poem Sister... it did something good to my heart, and almost made me cry. I've been called "white" all my life, but I'm pretty sure I'm part Abenaki Native. So... thank you.

Keep marching SoulJah's ...keep marchin on....marching on to Zion Road...
The 7th seal revealed, The battle it was won,
Jah Jah The Redeemer shone brighter than the sun,
The world was thrown into chaos.. it turned blacker than the night...
We took our positions and began the bloody fight...
Praises be to the Most High... Jah RasTafari...
He filled us with strength and determination He heard our battle cry...
From the old to the young...the brave to the small.....
With Jah as our guide and shield we all stood so tall....
He called them from the all corners of the earth from the land and the sea
Judgement day had arrived for Him we fell on bended knee.
The Conquering Lion of Judah come to fullfill the prophecy...
Come to save His Peoples and set the captives free...
We are now marching on to Zion with our Red Gold and Green...
The last battle's fyahs still burning we give thanks to Jah Supreme...
All soulJahs marching on to Zion Road the King leading the way....
To live as one in Love and Inity for Iver there to stay....
Keep marching SoulJah's... Keep Marchin On...marching on to Zion Road
Holy Emannuel I King Selassie I Jah RasTafari.........
