Dear friends,

This is an email sent to me by one of my collegues.
Hope you all feel the same and support peace and humanity.

Right now a tragedy is unfolding in the Middle East.
Thousands of
innocent civilians have been killed or wounded in the bombings in Lebanon, Palestine and Israel and the death toll is rising every day.
If the US, Syria or Iran get involved, there is a chance of a catastrophic larger war.

UN Secretary General Kofi Annan has called for an immediate ceasefire and the deployment of international troops to the Israel-Lebanon border, and been strongly supported by almost every world leader.
This is the best proposal yet to stop the violence, but the US, the UK, and Israel have refused to accept it.

I have just signed a petition calling on US President Bush, UK Prime Minister Blair, and Israeli Prime Minister Olmert to support Kofi Annan\s proposal. If millions of people join this call, and we advertise our views in newspapers in the US, UK, and Israel, we can help pressure these leaders to stop the fighting. Go to the link below and sign up now!

I thought this was a perfect place here at RastaNick's forum to post this as I KNOW there are people here that are just as passionate for an end to such violence.

Pass it on!

The campaign is still ongoing. If you gona sign a petition, I think this should be the one. Keep the pressure on.

From the Ceasefire Campaign:

Dear Friends,

This week US President George Bush became almost the last man on earth to support a failed Middle East strategy. The conservative-leaning “Iraq Study Group” - including many top figures from Bush's own Republican Party - has just released its long awaited recommendations and condemned virtually every aspect of America’s current approach to the Middle East.

The report echoes almost every call to action the Ceasefire Campaign has made since we began in August: it calls for Bush and other leaders to restart the Israeli-Palestinian peace process, talk to Iran, and switch to a diplomatic strategy for stabilizing Iraq that includes an eventual withdrawal of US troops.

The global pressure on Bush to change course is now intense, but he is still resisting change. Click below to add your voice to the chorus calling for Bush to adopt some of the report's key recommendations:

www.CeasefireCampaign.org

Our last petition on Iraq, signed by almost 80,000 Ceasefire Campaigners, was covered by US media in key outlets, and our ad was published in papers in London and Washington. A major response from people around the world at this critical moment is likely to get press attention in the US, and up the pressure on the US President.

With the release of Iraq Study Group report, every sensible voice from across the political spectrum is now pleading with Bush to change course. Please add your voice here:

www.CeasefireCampaign.org

There are enormous dangers and challenges in Middle East, but there is also great opportunity. A strong diplomatic effort can reverse the cycle of conflict, and Bush is the last man on earth left to convince.

With hope,

Ricken, Galit, Rachel, Tom, Amparo and the rest of the Ceasefire Campaign Team.

Peace y'all

Morning and Big Love,
Having been serving in Iraq twice since '03 with the British Army I have seen the failure out there 1st hand I have spent a whole year of my life out there and for what??? For me, nothing.... and for the people of Iraq..... well the statistics are staggering, 100's of thousands of innocent civilains killed since '03 alone and many many more to come unfortunately.
I joined the army as a last resort, involved in bad tings in my home town 6 years ago and going nowhere fast I signed up to try and get a good platform in life. As a peacefist probably not the best thought out move but still it gave me a good work ethic and taught me alot so all is not lost.
Anyway what I want to say is this, I have become totally disallusioned with the Army and especially the government. As a soldier who sees things 1st hand it is easy to tell that TONY BLAIR CONSTANTLY LIES about Iraq and Afghanistan and so do all the other polititions. They had no procedures in place for replacing any infrastructure in Iraq and that is evident today when you drive round the streets and see the place in a worse state than ever. All they wanted to do was get rid of Saddam for their own personal glory. It make my blood boil when I see these wicked men on the television preeching their rubbish about countries that they have no right to mess with. And as soldiers you are told nothing except to do your job. Whatever happened to there being a moral reason for war or military action?Huh? That would make me want to fight, if we were doing something positive but we are not. Let there be no question of that, nothing positive will come out of these countries as a result of military action by the west, not in the long run and not for the INNOCENT people who have to live in these countries.
Being in the army has taught me this; All polititions are liars to some degree and politics is based on deceit and smug smiles. War is disgusting and I want to get my self as far from it as possible. The British Army soldiers are used as pawns in political games by people who this country elected to make life better for us (ironic to think that many of those peoples children have been killed out in the middle east) The west has learnt nothing from their mistakes in the past of going into other peoples rightful countries heavy handed for their own politacal gain its just embarrassing to say the least the impression we must be making on the wider global community. Military action by the west is undoubtedly increasing terrorism when it is meant to be reducing it!!!
The world is in a real mess, many people on here may preech peace and 1 love but do you actually know what you are talking about? Most of the problems around the world will never be sorted now by saying 'hey guys just make friends it'll be ok now!' Its so complicted and I wouldn't know where to start, and sickeningly alot of it caused by the UK and the US... so that gives us something to be proud of???!!! And lastly before I joined the army I was pretty patriotic and proud to be British, now i'm just embarrassed, we are a country of greedy, selfish Babylon loving, haters who go around the world killing innocent people and invading countries that we know nothing about. (obviously that was a generalisation as I know that there are many richous men/women in these isles but I mainly meant the army/government/large section of the public)
So for me the answer is simple i'm out of the army for good in 3 months and InI can start my new life with my Queen, my little baby and my beautiful dogs far away from brutality, but I wont forget what I have seen and what I know and in any small way I can I will try to do something positive for the world.
War is so brutal but remember that peace will not sort out the problems in these countries although it will be a brilliant start, old wounds run deep and the answer is far more complicated. I only have 1 person to thank for showing I the richous path.
One love Peace and Prasies to the most high Jah Rastafari

Well I certainly know one way to stop the violence. Maybe Israel should stop treating the Palestinians like dirty animals, stop killing them, breaking every agreement they have made with them. Maybe they should stop making up such as fuss when HAMAS captures an Israeli soldier when Israel has hundreds of Palestinian children in Israeli Jails,

I don’t support terrorism, but what are the Palestinians supposed to do, say

"Oh Israel, please come take our land that doesn’t belong to you."

"Thank you so much Israel, for starting civil war by gunning down the FATAH leaders family and blaming it on Hamas."

"Israel we wont mind if you bomb us, Kill us, maim us"

"Israel, we won’t mind that you are treating us the way your ancestors were treated in Europe when you were given asylum in the Muslim world"

"Israel, we don’t mind that we have had to take refuge in Surrounding areas which are dirt poor like Jordan and places we are massacred like Iraq."

" Israel we don’t mind that you suck out billions of dollars from the US when I/6 Us children lives in poverty, which makes much of the Arab, and Muslim world hate America, causing Islamaphobia in America and Britain, while most Arabs and Muslims living America and Britain are patriotic and loyal"

So you see, do you blame the Palestinians and Lebanese for taking up Arms? Do you not pride the Ethiopians for fighting the Italians?

As Salam Alaykoum

One thing that particularly bothers me is that Hezbollah is called a terrorist organization, all you have to do is look at recent war and you'll see who are the real terrorists, IDF thats who... I really don't even wanna talk about it, its just painful and angering....

Not a doubt Alexander. The Western media makes the Hizbollah sound like hungry wolves preying on innocent Israeli sheep. This video begs to differ

There will never be peace without Justice.
But projecting the blame onto others will never bring an end to the conflict.
Only Compassion, Love and the sharing of Righteous Truth and Resources will alleviate the problems.
Babullah says If Religion is coursing disunity, its not doing its job properly, put it aside and persue unifying dialogue and action.
In Truth we are One people living on one planet, the Rights of all should we upheld.
Violence is the violation of Human rights and why arent we looking beyond it as an option?
if we continue our disrespecful and immature ways we may will destroy all life, for how many bombs and pollutitive land management practises can this planet sustain?
Bob say there are only 2 ways to deal with this ting- Rasta or you got a fight pon your hands....the choice is simple fe I
