i was just wonderin y is they viewed upon as bad in rastafari isnt tobacco a natural plant from earth like ganja and aint alcohol made from natural things from the earth like fruits and veggies. any responses appreciated thnx on advance

Well the reason alcohol is viewed as bad is that Babylon makes it. They use it to suppress the people and it is unnatural. All kinds of chemicals and such. Not to mention wine is made from grapes which are forbidden. And tobbaco is also Babylon. Now if its all natural organic tobbaco and you only use it alittle it wont be to bad. But cigs have so many chemicals and such that they are horrible.

Sure Ital (organic and naturally unprocessed) alcohol and tobacco aren't as bad fe yah.
Tobacco grown traditionally by Native Americans and used in a conscious, spiritual way, and alcohol used medicinally for herbal tinctures are used by some Rasta.
But Alcohol made chemically by Babylon, and consumed as a "relaxant" and social lubricant are not the sort of scenes yah will find Rasta comfortable in.
Most Tobacco/cigarettes are full of carcinogenic chemicals, this is "deadening" as apposed to Ital.
Rasta view the body as a temple, so things that harm the temple or dull the consciousness and make the body clumsy aren't seen as desirable by Rasta.
Try playing reggae under the influence of Alcohol! It doesn't work.
More Biblically versed Rasta will show the I passages in the Ible showing Jah frowns on drunkenness and "alcohol culture".
We Ras like to keep our faculties intact, ready for whatevers coming, setting examples rather than following fashions.

ganga can be abused just as alcohol can iguess. i and i got in a fight with the i's brother. about it. the i as a heavy drinker he is was saying how everything is bad and ganga is worse. it got a little out of hand

Do some research, alcohol isn't a remedy for glaucoma, or ashma, parkinsons disease, or anorexia, or given to people to help them eat and hold down food during chemotherapy, or given to psycotic people to calm them down, or used as a meditational aid, Ganga is.
Ganga is oxygenating, alcohol is toxic, there is a major difference.
And look at the social toll, do people routinely get high on Herb and beat people up?
No
The worse that usually happens if people have too much is they go to sleep.
Some will blame their mental problems on Herb, but I and I know that their thinking is erronous to start with.
Herb makes yah look at yahself, not so alcohol, like Bob say.

seen bredren, ye its right alcohol and tobacco made by babylon can make yuh bad,it can cause some illness that for drinking or smoking it... its better for ye to drink an coconut juice or coco wine, than alcohol...  or to plant yuh own tobacco for ur safety... a plant what JAH created is good what ever yuh call it... ganja,marijuana,herbs,bong... InI having an illness on mah lungs,I cyaan run too fast or do some work to0 heavier..coz mah breath is not normal... smoking the herbs is making InI feel good,making myself more stronger and smart...doing my self more creative... *meditation* correct! herbs is di healing of di nation!!! Im new to this forum and still learning about Rastafari but in the Bible it says it was a quickly put together meal and i think Jesus just wanted to sit down and have a meal with his deciples before the moment he knew was coming and also he didnt really use the wine for a bad purpose he used it for a message to try and teach his diciples the way.

As everybody has already said cigarettes and alcohol are products of babylon to make money off the weak, foolish and ignorant. they damage the body and alter an Idrens consciousness and distort what is righteous and what isnt. As well as that H.I.M condemned the use of alcohol an Selassie I word is law.
