Ev!Ct,
this is a depiction of Bobo Shanti, the most strict order of Rastafari, and only the concept of a professor, who has probably only seen it from one angle, and never tried to see the other side from the perspective of the Queen. it is not a general rule concerning Rastafari roles, and is extreme and presumptuous... a bit like the Times book of World religion, which suggested that Rastafari smoke weed without exception, nurse an inborn hatred of the white man, and that white people were not considered Rastafari.. you would probably quite enjoy that book, actually.. it deals with half truths, just like your professor of anthropology.
Almost every Rastawoman i know is revered and supported by her kingman.. if she were not, he would not be considered Ras according to Jah teaching..or his peers, were they aware of the situation..whether he had dread on his head or not is immaterial.
Our roles are considered different but equal... vital to the growth and support needed to raise healthy well rounded children.
i should know.. i have lived this life for nearly 25 years and never have i felt more Empowered, more loved, more cared for, than with a conscious Ras King. they kick ordinary men up the arse!!

WITHOUT exception, EVERY Rastawoman i know considers it an HONOUR to care for her loved ones, not a burden or a chore.. to the Ras Queen, her family are her treasures, her home her castle, her husband her King.
Be blessed,
Queen J
