A question about the actions of Haile Selassie I, that I'll introduce by saying that I've been doing a lot of reading about rasta and Ras Tafari and a lot of what I read makes a lot of sense to me, but I have questions that I'd like to get some rasta perspectives on - this one relates specifically to Ras Tafari:
What do we make of Ethiopian domination of Eritrea against the wishes of the Eritrean people? It doesn't seem like the action of a divinity to rule people by violence who don't wish to be ruled in this way (despite the punitive and seemingly illogically-behaving god of the Old Testament). . .
If you can be Christian and believe that Jesus was mortal/human, but to be admired and followed as an exemplary example, then can this also be the case with rasta and Haile Selassie I - and so look at, for example, this episode as human fallibility?
Not meaning any disrespect, or to stir - it's a genuine question that I'd really appreciate a perspective on. . .

Oh and in saying this I don't mean to get into the debate about his own comments on his mortality and what this means about whether he is mortal or divine - I saw that discussed elsewhere - but it was the thought that followed from my question.
