Greetings to One-and-All,
IŽm so tired of those rumours... Idren look into history and youŽll find the answer. How can His imperial Majesty Haile Selassie I be a dictator, no way that is pure propaganda!

InI have heard by me relatives and so that Haile Selasie I was a dictator and that Ethiopia hated him! But when i see a movie in youtube when Selassie I comes to Addis Abeba, people yell hurray, and are very happy! Why would they hate a king who make people educated, who starts university, and build up their country? Haile Selassie I is a precious man!
Jah bless

my opinion is that babylon was scared that if HIM did educate people then the people would know the truth and then babylon couldn't get a hold on them. so babylon made things up about HIM so the people wouldn't listen to HIM. seen? blessings. ke.

First, even if he was a dictator he was given that divine right by Yah. Being a dictator doesn't make a person a bad leader.
BUT I have been reading his speeches.
He plead with the League of Nations repeatedly for them to uphold their pledge to defend Ethiopia against repeated attacks- from what I've read so far- from Italy.
Europe wanted to cut Ethiopia into little pieces and parcel her out.
Selassie did not allow this to happen.
He was the first national leader to take his case directly, to speak personally, to the League of Nations.
He spoke poignantly, eloquently, and very strongly.
His words always referred to the Creator, YHVH, and to the duty that all humans have to one another as His children.
So, dictator- maybe. That is a kind of leader like president, king, prime minister. Dictator doesn't speak to whether a leader is good or bad, only to his constitutional power within a country.
From what I can discern, without Selassie there would be no nation Ethiopia any longer and there might not even be any Ethiopians.
Whether he was a dictator or not, he was a great man.
God bless.

wilko, I'm just curious. Do people in the UK generally have bad things to say about H.I.M.? A colored version of the truth? When I speak about H.I.M. here in the US, no one has heard of him. It is certainly not taught in history books here. I believe Bablyon wants Selassie history to just go away and fade into history.
Bless

Greetings to all, Isn't a dictator one who behaves in an authoritarian or tyrannical manner? HIM,a tyrannt? I think not.... Nattythreads, you wrote,"Europe to cut Ethiopia into little pieces",isn't this a little unfair, tarring us in Europe with the same brush, afterall there are many countries in Europe more sinned against than sinning. I'd expected better from one with your obvious insight. It may seem like nit picking but your observations could be considered labelling and upsetting for those of us who empathise with countries such as Ethiopia..
Bless up B

Very unfortunate! Alot of history books color the truth, leave it out, or just plain change things around. It is frustrating when you can't even get good books from the library.
