It's been said that every Rasta has to tread his own path in life.

I was treading mine, but was persecuted by my family and friends, so I rebelled and became self destructive.

I think my destiny is to buy and run this local Rasta shop, but the owner and I have had a number of disagreements.

I'm so frustrated, that I'm tempted to leave this state and not come back.

I'm also very angry at my mother and sister (and other people) for persecuting and hating me for smoking marijuana.

The Rasta who runs the shop now has said that he will forgive my mistakes, but that others won't.   I don't understand what he means by that.

All I want is to be happy, and at peace, but it seems so elusive right now.

Is there any advice anyone can offer?

Are there any psychics here who can contact this Rasta man I know?

His phone is disconnected, and he has never once called me, even though I have given him my number, and he has hinted that he would like to sell the shop, and that it is my destiny to take it over.

I'm so hurt and frustrated, that it's at the point where I hate my own mother, my own family, and life in general.

I need help and advice.

Anything that anyone can provide is very much appreciated.

Sincerely,
Erik D.

Greetings Erik D. I can almost feel what your going through, with the family i mean... My mom and brother always yells at me if i try to discuss things that is good about ganja or stuff... My brother (he's 34 years old and live in another town, im soon 15 years old), he once said that rasta is shit and its just a fake "religion" that confused Jamaican slaves came up with... I argued with him for a long time, i had evidence against what he talked about... Sometimes arguing for your belief makes your faith stronger. I dont really have any good advice but wanted to talk anyway. Just keep fighting for your right, try to explain to your family why you are smoking ganja... They maybe think you just want to get high and have fun? That is dangerous indeed, but if you smoke it to reach a higher spiritual state, i see no wrong in it. But the babylon government confuse people and say its a bad thing that kills people... Meanwhile im writing now i just came up with something... Why do babylon forbid ganja if they created cigarettes? Because with cigarettes, you dont see the truth! With ganja, we see the truth and what is real. Babylon does not want us to have that so they forbid it. Keep the faith up brother, and dont lose it! If that shop owner is not nice and they are shutting it, there's two things that i think of, either you struggle to keep it up as it may be your life call, or you let it fall as you might find a better shop of your own somewhere in the world? You have many choices ahead of you, just do your best to choose from your heart and what you think is right, then you wont have to worry about so much things, hopefully. But whatever you do, dont fall in the traps of babylon! They are testing us and putting alot of pressure on us, but we will keep standing on a higher place then them! We know the truth. So as every other rasta, keep fighting for ya rights and keep wise! Hope my words brought you some good thoughts. Bless up brother!

Jah Soldier,

Thanks for your words of wisdom and compassion.   You are so wise beyond your years, that I need to take some time to reflect on what you said.   Jah gave you those gifts and sent you to Earth for a reason, so just keep up the good work in your integrity, and don't let anyone drag you down the way I let myself be dragged down.

Like Bob said:  "Men (or many) people will fight ya down, when you see Jah light. "

As long as you don't drop down to their level, or compromise your integrity, you'll be fine.

Talk to ya soon brother.

@Erik D

i am sorry to hear what u are going through but it will get better of course.

firstly maybe stop smoking ganjah for a while to proove to your family that rasta is not all about smoking it,

I am mid-late teen growing up in North England. Up north there are very few RAS and the way of life is greatly mis understood UNLIKE LONDON for example, whereas in London black African/Caribbean culture is welcomed and goes into the society

Thankfuly close my family (mother, father) understand my thinking about Rasta

however people at my school mock I. They do not have knowlage of carribbean culture or Afrcian

they cannot understand that I am a Ras :S it is very odd

but listen to the song get up stand up

Cheesy

positive ALWAYS conquors negative

hope this helps

Good points brother. . .  that's all my family sees in it is the ganja.   They just don't understand.   I don't even smoke anymore because it makes me so paranoid due to all the negative happenings, and the negative way I've responded.

You are absolutely right that the positive always conquers the negative.   That piece of insight alone is very powerful and helpful.

Regarding your classmates, many people tend to judge or fear what they don't understand.   I have a feeling that you are doing the best thing and leading by example.   Everybody is brainwashed, and most just judge by appearances, or by what the media or self-appointed, so-called "authorities" tell them.

But, thanks for the positive feedback Brother.    I will "get up" and "stand up" and be who I am.   Thanks brother.   Thanks again, and all blessings to you.

Cheers, good words from both of ya! Yes i agree if you smoked it to much, the ganja, or you want to proof that rasta isnt just about ganja, dreadlocks and the calm reggae music, as many people think. There will be people in all times criticizing The I's belief and words. But when talking against them you will realise you say things you didnt think about before, but that seems very wise and true! That is a great way of making your spirituality and mind grow to new stages. Discuss with rastas, non-rastas and even those who are against it, in what you believe and why. Im doing that pretty much and it really do help me to grow my mind, really! One thing that helps my to relax sometimes and so on is writing lyrics to songs! My thoughts and feelings grow into the paper im writing on and it becomes so much easier to think and so on, after i did this. I came up with some good words that i think really is true! I think i've heard something like this before but i changed it though..

"There is no tomorrow, because after all, when the next day comes, its not tomorrow, its today"

I really think those words help me to think about whats happening right now instead of living into the future to much. Sometimes we need to get the future problems and such, and sometimes we need to keep them in our minds. Do what you want and how you want to do it, as long as you dont hurt anyone! Some people do say bad things about rasta to me aswell as to you. That H.I.M was a cruel dictator, that rasta is bullshit and everything is fake. But when i defend my belief and explain to them why i think this way, then i feel much better inside! For everyone, i think when you defend what you believe in, you feel good inside. Keep that in mind and just go with your own flow, everything will be allright !

"Yes im gonna be okey! Yes im gonna be allright"

Blessings and Jah love to you! Keep the fighting up, we are the true rebels of the world!

Bless bredren!

I know pretty much EXACTLY what the I is going through! I family was always negative to I faith in Jah RasTafarI and were very disappointed in InI when I trod off the Buddhist path. I admit that I am perhaps not the coolest, take-it-lying-down kind of person and I was very hostile towards everybody who sent InI negativity and tried to put I down. I'd leave home to live with friends frequently and blew ganja smoke in the face of any cop who questioned I using it which resulted in some very unpleasent days. The only advice I can offer yah is to stay STRONG and POSITIVE and always to feel pride when chanting Jah name! If somebody trys to burn yah, burn dem back twice as hard. Let all know that RasTafarI is the king of kings!

Selassie keep yah strong on the path bredren, good luck.

Greetings in the Name of the Most High Jah RasTafari      Without Apology
Blessed Love InI dont think I have reasoned with any rasta that hasnt had some kind of conflict with close family or "friends" and most of InI elders informed I that years aback Rasta was known as "blackheart" in Jamaica.
The saying " the race is not for the swift but for those who endure to the end" comes to mind The I is on a journey and from yuh can overcome stand firm and righteous yuh haffie get thru.Remember Jah chose yuh and no words and comments can hurt like those that fall from the mouths of InI and all I families. As it is to them we reach out to for upliftment and support. Ignorance is frustrating when the ears and hearts of those we love are closed mek not yuh mouth profess yuh faith in Jah, but yuh actions. From they can see how Rasta turn round yuh life, enlighten and create overstanding Jah will help yuh find a middle ground.InI guess the hardest thing right now, is for yuh to try to de personalise their comments they can only hurt if you accept what they say to be true, Hold da faith and call out Jah Name "knock and it shall open Seek and you shall find"
Love and raspect

Rasta and African Culture is far from embraced in London but we a fight the cause same way.

Same way, I find family shun and judge I.
people will often fear and judge hastily that which they don't overstand....
Give it up to JahJah!
all the heavy load, dowpression and injustice can be borne thru HIs Grace and Guidance
I find I have to know when to just shut up and act humble and bear it with a smile and some grace...so as to allow I actions to speak when I words fall on closed, fearful ears.
Bless and keep Jah faith brother!!!!
