Hello all!
I know, I can guarantee almost, that this has been covered SOMETIME before.
But, I must ask for my own knowledge and overstanding.
A few years back, when I was in the caribbean,
I saw a man who made rasta things (necklaces, etc.), who lived the rasta life (I-Tal, fishing, totally in nature, on his own,
absolutely no computers and related stuffs).
I wondered why he had no dreads, even though he was surely a devout rasta.
He gave me a reason, but I want to hear everyone's thoughts!
What about it; being a rasta, but with VERY short hair (his hair was like buzz-cut length)?

Bless!

Hey man!

Dreads are not "vital" to be come rasta.
Many many people have not got dreads seen?

BUT, i do not think there is a reason why u shouldnt dread, it is our identity, and by looks, shows we as rebels, chanters of downpression of babylon, are history and our pride!

But JAH give us free will, so it up to the I what he does with his appearence seen?

Dread is not a every man thing
Selassie I never speak about dreadlocks.

Never judge a brother by the length of his hair; only firm faith is the way.
Today, dreadlocks is not rebellious. Today it is smart fashion, Babylon shitstem infiltrate our lifestyle. Therefore, I & I cover the dread with hat or turban or other.

Also, dreadlocks is only prohibited to the ones, who take the nazirite vow.

Hope this helped.

Iman must disagree with my brother,

If you have dreads, people know u have them, its the appearence of them also. A man with dreadlocks keeps him self to him self, as marley said, if you go to a club everyone drink and rave, but the dread stand at the back and think apon.

Also dont expect employers to employ you easily, dreads is not accepted really accepted in society

Prohibited?  says who. So many try to say such a thing as if it means something, well it doesnt, it is only one more instance of "cherry picking" certain things that seem ok and discarding the others, lets follow this law but not that law and lets agree with this statement but throw out that one. People grow there locks for many different reasons and very few do it because of some "law" in the bible. You either beleive in the bible as a whole and follow the "laws" as it says or not, it was not written to be "cherry picked" for people. Grow your locks for whatever reason your heart desires.

Rastafari is not a Pantheist. One cannot just do whatever their "heart" desires and expect to have a relationship to JAH. This may not be something that Pagans care about but they suffer the consequences. There are many different levels to being a Rasta, some that require taking the Nazerite vow and some that don't.

"One cannot just do whatever their "heart" desires and expect to have a relationship to JAH."

Big difference in what i said compared to your feeble attempt to discredit I.
Pagans dont suffer any consequences outside of the natural order of life just like anyone else.

"There are many different levels to being a Rasta, some that require taking the Nazerite vow and some that don't."
No again, there are only differences of views not levels and nothing but a clean heart and humble way is "required" to be a follower of Selassie. Maybe people should go back a few short years ago and read your posts, there they will see a young uneducated boy starting on his own journey to learn about rasta and compare to now the one who thinks he knows all about such things and believes theres "levels" outside the individuals heart one must be "required" to take, sit down young one your bark is worse than your bite.

Yes well ignorance is bliss, just the inferior kind. Again with the "young one" discrimination's.

I am sorry for the confusion, Iman did not mean "prohibited" I meant "only required". Only nazirites are REQUIRED to grow the dread. Everyone else can do as their meditation make them overstand.

No suffering here, just as fine as any other day, im sure that upsets you, you wishing God would inflict me for my thought crimes and all but then again he wouldnt be "the God". Thanks for your concern though.

Yes the Nazarenes of old were required to GROW the hair, they who followed the entire laws, now no one does, only pick a few here and there, thats ok though in my book, it just shows how time has shown man reason and morals and that many of the "laws" were unethical, maybe one day the priests and rabbi's will admit it to, but then that's asking alot.

"thats ok though in my book, "

As if someone was asking you. It just demonstrates your imagined Ithority. I'm glad to hear you say your "not suffering" since such is what you deserve.

Human, you talk about nazarenes, not nazirites. Nazarenes are early followers of Yeshua. Nazirites are the serious warriors who give their soul AND body to the Most High.
Iman accept that you don't know the law, but I don't know what that has to do with Rastafari or all this.

Adam dont confuse I with one who is not educated in history especially the bible, Nazarenes were the followers of the nazarite laws and not the followers of jesus because there never was a place called Nazareth in his time, every single saying that his followers were called nazarenes comes from 2nd, 3rd, and 4th century priests of the new founded sun cult you know as christianity who HAD to fit jesus with nazarene to fit with old testament prophecy. The nazarenes would never had to take a vow to Jesus if he was the messiah and came from a virgin birth, there would be no need for a vow! this is pure christian false literature, one of the many such writtings.

""And he came and dwelt in a city called Nazareth: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophets, He shall be called a Nazarene."  coming from 3rd and 4th hand non eywitness accounts hundreds of years later, this is one of the later revisions to fit the story.

If you want Wikipedia to teach you history then so be it, I dont use such writtings. Respect to you all the same.

"It just demonstrates your imagined Ithority."   I have no more than anyone else does here, something you should learn.
