well first off at the moment i have a completely shaven head (its way easier to take care of that hair) but its gotten to the point that it grows back so fast i might as well grow dreads. Ive grown my hair out before but its pretty much straight. Now to the question part,

1) would i look like a moron (im white as a ghost and have jet black hair)
2) how long of hair do i need to start making dreads (i can grow about an inch a month)

bless up
-Jon

generally your hair should be past your earlobes at least, but somewhat longer if your hair is straight, and its not the look that comes with the dreads, its the knowledge, focus not on growing your dreads but on learning, and the dreads will come.

Greetings in the name of the God of our Fathers .....

I as a man have written this many of time

do it your self...learn knowledge as you go

1....grow hair where you can braid it...
2....twist braids each nite and cover head....this will keep your hair turning
3....soon braids( months) will be gone and apply SALT WATER each and every day
4.....soon da dreads will form
5....Egyptians had da first braids...They were to said to have hair like snakes
6.....each and every day you will have a new look...for each day you will turn each dread and they will hang differently from your head !!!!!!!

Peace and Joy

Greetings.....to your question " how does GOD  express vanity"..?

ther ar so many stories/parables that JAH gives I as a man....I would not even know where to start.....

How bout SoloMan ? did he not turn from GOD/

how bout David ?...thinking he could kill Uriah to marry Bethsheba ?

EveryThing becomes vanity !!!

Building a tower to reach da Heavens....Nimrod....Man thinking he can be GOD

How bout ATUM Huh?  eating of the tree of knowledge ...it all becomes ONE sin

Moses asked GOD what should I do woth da man who picked up a few sticks on da sabbath....GOD said to KILL him....the least is as worse as the greatest....

this is why it states in the Bible that one will be taken and one will be left...!

I as a man am guilty of allll da sins of da world....one sin is da same as da other ...dey all interfere with each and conflict into one sin

Love
Peace be with you

Well put Bredren Michael,
I  would like to add the thought that if we are looking backward, all examples put forth are true and powerful.  It is a desire to even speak, or type the thoughts one has and to even assume to have any type of thing what so ever to resemble to knowledge !, even view or glimpse the wisdom of The Most I.  it is revealed in its time, and it is here that I would like to look at the melding of The "school of Christ" type transformation of the "self" to what we are capable of becoming.
In many faiths and practices there is the knowledge that to get closer to JAH, we must give our selves over to a death of sorts.  One in which the pride and child like desire to be acknowledged must come to blossom into the fruit of the "over" self.  In this state I can only imagine that we are totally free.  Free to do as we are directed by the ever~changing moment and mixture of multiple inputs.  All this is in the flow of the river JAH.
We each have a purpose in this existence, and I now see that it is these momentary interactions and their ricochets we affect each other and each others journey.  Seems a simple thing, but try to let go of desire in a day.  We each desire and willfully push our will.
The one main thing I have always seen as a powerful image of Rastafari elders, the pioneers of ths movement was/is a connection to the rootical  essence of what we as JAH'S CHILDREN all share. In this image there is a simplicity of we are what we are, Natural .  Even the DreadLock,, in its purest form come naturally, to think of twisting or applying something is a vanity.

 One,
