Greetings brethrens, in the name of the true and living God, Haile Selassie First and in the name of the Christ, Primus St. Croix. We are always happy to hear someone knocking on the door. After all the House of Jah as many room for accomodation. We have read your question and We hope that Our answer will suffice you.
The brethren asked if he was ready to become a Rasta. First thing you should know my friend, is that the Rastafarian movement is not a Religion, but, the fulfilment of all Religious hope and expectation, i.e. the sacred books. The movement started after the Coronation of Ras Tafari Makonnen, on November 2, 1930, in the city of Addis Ababa in Ethiopia. On that day, He was Crowned His Imperial Majesty Emperor Haile Selassie First, King of Kings and Lord of Lords, Conqeuring Lion of Judah, and Light of the World. It was through this ecclassiastical and ancient prophecy that the Rastafarian exodus was inspired. Before, 1930, Rastafari was already becoming a respected figure in world affairs. HE advocated for the independence of African countries and other countries under colonial rule. He relented for the wide spreading of education for Ethiopia and other underdevelop countries inorder to meet the challanges of western world advances. He navigated Ethiopia into the League of Nations (the first country outside the European body to become a member), thus safe guarding her rights and opening the door for African and all othe small nations to gain their independence. There are many great and farsighted decisions Rastafari made to establish peace and security throughout the world. However, it was'nt until after Italy invaded Ethiopia that Haile Selassie's true Character and virtue became apparent to the world. So great are the works of King Ras Tafari, however, if you are interested in following His Majesty, which is exactly what Rastafarianism is about, then We would advise you to read about Him. The 'Selected Speeches of H.I.M.', 'My life and Ethiopias progress' vol i and ii, 'Seventy Years Accomplished by Omar Tobijah' are some good references for you to start. Secondly, We advise that you read and study the bible, for it is the book that bears testimony to the works of His Imperial Majesty Haile Selassie I. Without the prophecies of the Sacred Book, how would we have known what and who to look for. Finally my friend, you must know or rather We will speak frankly, that Haile Selassie I is the God and Father of Jesus Christ. This means that He is the God of all Religion and truth seeking systems. Furthermore, the trod of Rastafari is not a traditional thing, but a sacrifice to uphold and share the truth, and a devotion to the principles of the Supreme God King Ras Tafari. His principles are of those enshrined in the tablets of the Organization of African Unity, Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the charters of the United Nations. Keep also in mind my friend, that becoming Rasta, simply means that one has decided to pick up the cross of Christ and fight for the cause of truth. The cross of Christ is proclaiming to the world that: God is come, repent from foolish and selfish philosophies and follow Him. This mission as nothing to do with dreadlocks, or eating ital, but if you choose to practice these habits then more points to you. The Kingdom of God dwells not in temples made with hands; God does not require the bullocks and goat offering of man, but a pure and contrite heart he will hear.
Welcome to the Kingdom of Jah Ras Tafari.
