I am a white man from England and have come to this forum to seek knowlegde, guidance and understanding of the rastafarian faith and they way of life it presents.  The last few months i've been doing lots of research and reading on the internet, from books, and on this forum about your faith and the ways of the rasta. They all make so much sense, and seem like a path that i am now starting to follow without even thinking about it, however i dont know enough about H. I. M.  This maybe naive of me and forgive me if im wrong but it seems that Emperor Haile Selassie brought hope for the people of african origin after they had been suppressed by white people, and im concerned that it would be wrong for myself, a white person, to follow your faith.  However, i love your values, the way a rasta percieves the world, so natural, away from the babylon system which i was so against anyway even before finding rasta.  Rasta is helping me to become more spiritual, carm in situations so i do not have bad spirit, i'm starting to eat ital without consciously doing it.  The unity, the love, for fellow brothers and sisters and for our mother earth, all of this makes so much sense yet i am afraid i am not worthy of coming into your brotherhood.  Im 20 years old and for years i have felt empty and was looking for a reason why i was here.  I wondered why i had to be born into a world full of hatred, full of crime, full of bad feelings, a world whre there was no love, a world where the system decides what clothes you should be wearing to look good, or that you have to have nice house and fast car to be "happy" or "successful".  Since ive been learning about rasta that hole is being filled and feel like i have a purpose, to help fight against babylon, to spread the love, to help others see the light, but i still feel i am not worthy to trod rasta.

Please help me, i need Jah's guidance

Greetings brother Markieb, in the name of the Living God, Emperor Haile Selassie I, Father of Our Lord Jesus Christ.
We are glad to read your letter; it brings joy to hear one hunger and thirst for the knowledge of God. Your plea for "help", demonstrates the scripture: "Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled (Matthew 5:6)." The "promise of the bible is that God would reveal himself unto us; that we may know his way; for his way is life. Matthew 5:8 reads: "Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God." Therefore, you have, brother Markieb, entered into a good religion or path of light. For should you investigate all the religions of men, you will find that none believe the testimony of Christ (the Word of God): that God is a real Person. I timothy 3:16 saids, "And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifested in the flesh, justified in the Spirit (Word of Truth), seen of angels (men of understanding), preached unto the Gentiles (those in darkness), and recieved up (exalted) in Glory." While the bible was written over 3000 yrs, according to the history of Ethiopia, the oldest tradition known to man, we must keep in mind that, it is prophecy. The word prophecy means, to foretell something; therefore, the Scriptures are not historical records. Had the scribes and pharisees (so called scholars, and wise men) of the world, humbled themselves unto the basic principles (milk) of the scriptures, We are confident that, they would've recieve the Truth. Like I Peter 2:1-2 saids: :wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings, As new born babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby." Before we can walk we must first learn to creep; and it is for this purpose the holy books were written. Romans 15:3 saids, "For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope." This hope is, in reality the expectation of all of humanity; and that is We hope to see God. Considering, the confusion, and problems in the world it is inevitable that We hope for a Supreme and Righteous Leader. The bible called this Supreme Ruler "God"; Quran call him "Allah"; the Hindu call him Krsna, but, these are all titles or crowns reserve for him who is the Kassate Berhan, Revealer of Light and Abba Selama, Father of Peace. Now, then, understand this my Friend: the prophecies of the holy books are our HOPE, but it is the evidence or revelation that will save us. The Bishops of the world teaches us that "Faith" is believing in something invisible, but that is not correct. Faith is the evidence if God (read Hebrew 1:1). For, it is God himself who will establish his law and righteousness in the earth. Psalms 87 points to Ethiopia, saying that, "this and that man was born in her: and the highest himself shall establish her.
We are happy, Brother Markieb that "ye are come unto mount Zion, and unto the city of the living God, the heveanly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels (Hebrew 12:22)..."  For the "Ancient of days did sit..." And "thousand thousands" did ministered unto him. Daniel 7:9-10. Remember, now, my friend, November 2, 1930; for this is the Great supper of God. Read revelation 19:11-17; and consider wisely, because, where history is concern His Imperial Majesty Haile Sellassie First is the only One with this title; and, also, He is recorded in our history as the greatest and wisest King known to man. John F. Kennedy said to the american people that His Majesty "place in history is already assured." Many of the major Universities and Instituions of the world have crowned HIM with high honors and glory. The United Nations calls HIM, the "Conscience of the world". After World War II many Nations including England apologised and confessed to the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, that hath they listened to him, war would have been avoided. When you read the "Selected Speeches of Haile Selassie I" you will observe that, His Majesty's entire reign was dedicated to establishing peace and promote unity among the nations. It is Haile Selassie who paved the way for African countries to achieved independence; it is HIM who inspired many European leaders and peoples to abondoned their doctrine of racism and to sacrifice for the greater good of humanity. Haile Selassie I is the fulness of truth; he is the Living God.

"For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kigdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgement and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the Lord if hosts will perform this." Isaiah 9:6-7.

Forasmuch as there is none like unto thee, O LORD; thou art great, and thy name is great in might. Who would not fear thee, O King of nations? for to thee doth it appertain: forasmuch as among all the wise men of the nations, and in all their kingdoms, there is none like unto thee. But they are altogether brutish and foolish: the stock is a doctrine of vanities. Silver spread into plates is brought from Tar'-shish, and gold from U'-phaz, the work of the workman, and of the hands of the founder: blue and purple is their clothing: they are all the work of cunning men. But the LORD is the true God, he is the living God, and an everlasting King: at his wrath the earth shall tremble, and the nations shall not be able to abide his indignation." Jeremiah 10:6-10.

Brother Markieb, you said, qoute: " I am afraid I am not worthy of coming into your brotherhood"; and this is because you are a white man. However, my brother, if you can see what We see and hear what We hear, and recieve as We do, the Word of Truth, which comes from Him who sits on the Throne then are We one. Read Matthew 20:20-23. And, above all, remember the utterance of Jah Rastafari: "Until the philosophy which holds one race superior and another inferior is finally and permanently descredited and abandoned; that until there are no longer any first-class and second class citizens of any nation; that until the color of a man's skin is of no more significance than the color of his eyes;that until the basic human rights are equally guaranteed to all, without regard to race--until that day, the dreams of lasting peace and world citizenship and the rule of international morality will remain but a fleeting illusion, to be pursued but never atained."

Dear Markie,

Congratulations for not running away from inner confusion and having the humility to seek help, and at a young age of 20, may your aims be blessed and may you develop the will and sight to see the whole thing through.  I myself am not a Ras.  I have the highest regard for the Holy Emperor.  I pray to HIM to intercede for us.

Please take the steps to find the words of Haile Selassie.  Don't rely on others.  Anyone with half a brain can achieve this.

I also suggest you take steps to meet Rastas; seek out those fulfilling the divine-human principles - same taught by His Imperial Majesty Haile Selassie I - in person.  Particularly, look for those in your community that are doing works on the ground locally and join + assist. 

The realm of creation engages our whole human nature.  Internet space is good but is limited.  It is not healthy to neglect things by dwelling in the mind and imagination only.  Our locality, and all our common nature, shapes us, and very likely you will find a different vibe when you meet rasta face to face in your area compared to computer screens.  It is an honor to meet Ras Tafari face to face.  Neglect is dishonour and silence is consent.

Thank you all so much for your words, the last few months have been an incredible journey and i am loving every second of it.  H. I. M has entered my heart and body and is guiding me on his path.  Thank you Ras He-lem for taking the time to guide me with you words, and help me understand things better.  Thank you Redge for helping me see that being white does not matter, it is just a colour and nothing compared to the soul embeded within each person.  Thank you Nepsis for making me realise that i need to get myself out there and learn in a physical way, see what is out there in our world and start giving back to our paradise.  Due to this realisation, i have know booked a one way ticket to Australia, where i will begin my new journey.  I will travel from country to country, doing different voluntere work, finally ending up in Africa, where i hope to stay for many months helping to build communities.  Thank you so much for your words, you truly are inspiration and have helped in changing my life.
