Why did you "choose" Rasta?

although i do not believe one chooses rasta but is called into rasta, i thought it was the most appropriate way to post da question.what drew i  to rasta was the peace, togetherness, how we rastas stick together and love all idren, i also believe in the love the message of the conquering lion of judah, H.I.M. i was drawn towards it, i read it, i got into it, i loved it. I was given a since of light in my soul when i started to grow into a rasta. i love how rastas aren't money fiends like i found in da christian church, dey aren't hypocrites, dey practice what dey preach, dey love, dey peace, dey know their scripture, dey follow their scripture. Rasta is love, rasta is peace, rasta is togetherness, rasta is the true love of JAH, our prophets speak true, our prophets want us to become strong, and we want da pure bloodline on da throne. i love jah, i love all idren, i love my brothas and sistahs, rasta has shown me true love, rasta has shown me inner peace, rasta has let me know me and my brothers, rasta has made me happy. we as idren will bring the world to see our happiness and one day David's blood will continue it's rightful thrown. da reasons i was called to rasta are too many to be listed, i wanted all da idren to know my insides so we can all grow closer. share yours brothas and sistahs.

beautiful post brother, i feel so much peace and love coming from your messages as i was reading them, you speak the love and are on the beautiful vibe i am always on:) much love to all idren in the world, deep in my heart i pray everyday this world will see the true light of this faith.  one love everyone its nice to have come across this website, i have just registered:) i choose rasta for the beautiful feeling of everliving everfaithful oneness and i hope and pray that i spread this feeling to everyone i meet in my life so they can seek inner and realize the true potential of inity.

I must say my calling was quite a cosmic experience.
I had always heard about Rastafari around this time by wolves that I called friends, and was drawn towards the music of Bob Marley and ganja.
One day, a long time before I man started to claim Rastafari, I smoked some herb with a friend.
He was a practicing Rastaman at the time, I believe, and he prayed over the herb prior to it being smoked.
Soon, I felt a spiritual sensation and a voice came to I calling itself the Lion of Zion.
I was in a deep reasoning where events in I life flashed before I own eyes.
I soon left his house in the middle of the night, and the whole way to my house, I felt the Lion guiding I throughout the night, giving I warmth in the cold winter evening, and protection in the midst of Babylon. Interesting thing is, before I left, worried about baldheads, I man asked who I smoked with in concern,
"Whats gonna happen?"
He blew out a candle and "I will decide that".
I don't know if he meant Selassie "I" or himself, all I know is Jah was with I that night.
I know herb is the healing of the nations for I have seen angels after smoking it.
I was so troubled at the time, and it healed I immensely and showed I the path to Zion.

Wonderful posts, everyone~  I've always been drawn to religions and spirituality, growing up in a Christian home.  But I was disillusioned about the whole church and members that are hypocrites that I cannot attend a Christian church any longer...I tried but cannot do it.  So I began to read about eastern religions and philosophies of peace and living simply. 

I came across a book, "Rasta Heart" by Robert Roskind and began my journey of finding out more of Rasta.  We traveled to Jamaica and fell in love with the island and it's culture so also, began to read up whatever we could on Rasta's way of living.  It feels right for me and gives me peace in spirituality.  My journey continues as a life long process.

I think everyday that we come in contact with people or even strangers that you affect with your inner spirit and love that shines out.

and finally realized

in my search for non-hypocrisy
