hello bredren and sistren my name is tommy im from New york and rasta has changed my life in so many good ways and all i can do is thank jah, but i want to learn more and full understand rasta. i feel because i dont have dreads(yet) and because i am white that i cannot call myself rasta. i constantly am looking for more and more information on the rasta movement to know more so if anyone can help me learn and possibly guide me to be better that be great. Peace. Love. Jah.
First of all - there is no such thing as "white Rasta". Rasta is not a "color thing". Either you are Rasta or you are not. I mean you don't hear the original Rasta running around saying "I am black Rasta" - do you ?
2cnd - You don't have fe dread to be Rasta. Rasta is not a "hair thing". Dreads are mostly for those Rasta who have vows - i.e., "Nazarite - Rasta" (if one may call them that).
3rd - Just check the postings, that deal with this issue, on this site if you want to learn. You can also check our "what are you reading at the moment" thread for some useful titles to books that could help you further. Do some research on the Net as well but, be careful because not all who write are for Rasta.
If you have any direct questions then feel free to ask. Many here will be willing to give you a hand.
