His Majesty did speak extensively on the benefits of collective security. In this time, I don't see it outside of the richest nations. They look out for each other on the international scene, but that was not what His Majesty was speaking of.
Ideally, in His Majesty's vision of what the United Nations should have been, they would have been the relevant authority to stop atrocities and abuses by one nation against another, but as I and I see in this time, the United Nations is at best powerless to stop and at worse complacent in those abuses.
Look at Israel, where whenever any nation makes a motion to stop the abuses against the Palestinian people and stop the colonialism of Israel, the USA and all their allies use their power of veto to stop any action, and the UN does nothing. Or when America wanted to go to war with Iraq against the demands of the UN, so they fabricated some plot about weapons of mass destruction and went to war anyway, even though the UN had found no weapons there. Or in Rwanda, when the UN spent its time and resources evacuating all the Americans and British and French while Africans slaughtered Africans in the streets in the hundreds of thousands.
In an ideal world, there would be an authority with the will and the power to stop abuses by one nation against another. So His Majesty willed it. But in this time, such an authority is not there. Only authority they will answer to is the Almighty, and they won't see that judgement coming...

Blessed love.

Sadly I would say that the UN has failed in that hope.

I think I could guess their response. They would point to their successes over their failures.

When His Majesty said that the UN was the hope of nations, He was encouraging them to stand up and uphold the rights of Nations and peoples. True that there are those in the UN who no doubt hold that same dream and work towards it to the best of their ability, but His Majesty also spoke of the strengthening of the UN to enable it to actually act on its ideals. That strengthening never happened. The UN doesn't have the power to uphold it's ideals. As I and I can see from recent events, the UN bends easily to the will of powerful nations and when it doesn't bend, those nations have the power to disobey without fear of any form of sanctions. Same thing happened with Italy and League of Nations in 1934. Added to that is the fact that there are those in the UN who see it and use it simply as bureaucratic body to be exploited for their or their friends gain.
I and I might even see it again in the next week or so when the UN assembly votes on recognising the nation of Palestine, that would end many of the abuses and downpressions by Israel. Plenty of small, poorer nations are behind the idea, but America still stands opposed, and that is all it has taken in the past to scupper any and all attempts at peace and justice. We will see from this most recent example what the UN is good for. Even if the motion is passed, I doubt the UN's ability to enforce it.

Blessed love.

Sadly I don't think they will value the voice of one Rastaman from England.

Still, didn't stop I from signing a petition. I and I will see what happens.

http://www.avaaz.org/en/independence_for_palestine_uk/?cl=1175343882&v=9676

That's the petition if the I wants to give a try.

Blessed love and Ises on His Majesty's Earthday.
