Very poor choice of recipe. Even those RastafarI people who don't eat strictly Ital avoid pork in all forms. I and I won't even handle the stuff a lot of the time, let alone eat it.

It's not the end of the world. . . better to educate regarding reasons to avoid pork than take offence. . remove the pork, substitute with tofu. . . . . and the recipe retains significant value. . . .
