Greetings to fellow brethren and sistren.
Firstly as it is my first post I would like to greet each and everyone in the name of the Most High Jah Rastafari, sellassie I the first.
My question is about differences within rastafari, when iman started following the path of rasta it was a case of if yiu wanted to learn you would sit around with elders and listen to them.  As ive been living in london for the last eleven years, things have been a bit confusing.  I man is rasta for I believe and accept HIM.  InI livity is just another aspect of being rasta.
So I was told not to eat meat, but in the bible it says these are the certain meat we can eat.  And ive been lucky enough to travel and meet people who consider themselves rasta and eat meat.
Then theres the no alcohol and it was said that alcohol is forbiden and that we should not even hang out with people who drink and smoke tabacco.  Then I meet a few people who drink and consider themselves rasta, and find that tabacco gets used alot over in the uk when burning the herb.
Being rasta is not what I initially thought, where we are considered to live in the mountain and live off the earth.
Things change people change there ways but its always about the believe.
So I would just like to find out about all the differences we have and share and with all the differences what are ini views, can we be or can one be considered rasta if he doesnt obide by the ital diet, drinks alcohol and smokes tabacco.
Onelove to all.

greetings and love asherone, one question, when you travel, you travel in the bush or at the tourist strip? in this time you can travel all around the world and sit at a hotel and experience nothing else than the very same culture you got at home. real roots is ital. as time moves on people tend to mix it up with their own thing. if you into schooling type subject you can check the relation between entropy and time.

i believe the ancient egyptian civilization showed the same tendency.

Give thanks I for the reply, I dont necessarily travel around in the bush but ive never been one too sit around in a hotel either.  My travels are mostly independent nothing extrordinary, and I always try and mix with locals as much as I can.  When I say meet people who share the same believe im talking about locals.
As an example I met another brother in cuba he praised HIM and just wanted to talk we went out for lunch and when we ordered he was ordering meat dishes.  The reason for this is the way the country was run and they were still getting handouts from government every month.  Work was a luxury so everybody was hussling for what ever they could get.

as i said in the other thread, i think there are more important things going on in the world than to judge others for what they eat even though there are many reasons to stay away from meat. one being that it is a lot more taxing on the environment to produce one dinner of meat than a vegetarian one.

Greetings asherone

I personally do not judge anyone on their physical Livity unless they are hurting other people.  It is not any human's job to decide who is Rasta and who isn't unless that decision is made in order to protect the people.  Focus on your own Livity.

I would say no meat no dairy no additives no caffeine no medicine no tobacco no alcohol is the best way forward, but everyone lies somewhere on that spectrum and everyone's decision is their own.  And some people fight battles to resist Babylon temptations, and that can include any kind of substances and foods.  All part of the trod.
