I'm glad you made this post because I was thinking of making this post,
When i try to meditate i find it easier with a little bit of reggae music in the background nothing to up tempo and not to loud. I like to have a little smoke of some herb as well does the trick.

you must be happy to have some herb. there are people that don't even have any food to eat, much less a place to stay. i can't see how there is yet time to relax.

Yes there are people living with no food and no shelter which is a sad shame and i wish i could do something about that, the only way to change these things are to unite as one and share everything but this government don't want that, they want separation, so if you have the time to relax in this world and meditate upon these things we must realise how blessed we are.

Greetings Here's a link to a free podcast by Deerpark Monastery, a buddhist monastery in the tradition of Thich Nhat Hanh. This particular episode from their podcast features a reading of 2 sutras on mindful breathing attributed to Buddha. One is about 8 minutes long, the other about 15 minutes long read in English. The monk whose reading did a great job. The podcast episode has an introductory teaching, but I used some simple free audio editing software to break out the actual sutras themselves into their own separate MP3 files (Im happy to share if anyone doesnt have the expertise or time to do it themselves). The sutra readings start around 10:30 into the podcast. I keep these on my ipod and find them to be excellent assistance to meditation, sometimes I listen to one while I practice mindfulness, sometimes both depending on time. Sometimes sitting, sometimes walking: http://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/two-sutras-on-mindful-breathing/id185795418?i=83205225Thanks

no blessing is enough to excuse the lack of compassion for other human beings. don't blame the government for your lack of heart. sharing a little goes a long way in helping others with their basic needs.

why are you saying my lack of heart, i have heart for these people suffering around this world, i have suffered in my life so far as well, i understand suffering, if i could i would help everyone that is suffering, but what can i do? i dont have the money to help feed these people i dont have the voice to stop wars which has started for lack of love to humanity, i see we are all equal on this eart everyone one deserves too live life good and not in poverty and suffering, and the main reason there is this suffering is due to the government and lack of love of the human race. but i was merely saying we should count our blessing because i am thankful i am not suffering as bad as other people, not saying that they should be suffering at all

if you are writing on this forum surely you have both the time and the energy to do something. stop looking for a perfect life before helping someone that have it worse than yourself. don't blame government for your lack of action.

Yes, meditate to action. meditation is a good aid to help one meet their aims. example: it can help one to see those patterns in oneself that need to be overcome as well as how one can develop with strength and fortitude. meditation is useful for the simplification of life, and the more simple life the more one can ignore the government and instead direct self energy to works of Jah. Jah is Lord, Ruler of All Creation = Only True Government who supplies the very I seated in the heart. in meditation, the I can both listen to Jah to find aims if the I is unaware of them and check oneself. Relaxation is not an aim, but if it leads to conscious meditation it can help one to do good. Noone expects you to achieve all the Good, but don't confuse this reality with the commandments to do good.

there are many different meditation techniques. i'd say it is for ones and ones to find something that works for them. even though it's possible to learn from different traditions let's not confuse them with each other. rasta is not buddhism even though they are both paths to find the truth within. ganja is a mystic and sacred thing and need to be treated as such, with respect. its use for spiritual purposes is an ancient tradition.
