Post by: Empress AliJah on November 30, 2007, 06:20:55 PM

While holding a Meds Last night InI asked Iself what does being Rasta mean to InI......RasTafari ah mi heart beat InI blessing, The Truth and the Light, a comfort a Joy and way of Life, Not a hairstyle or reason to bun di sacred herb or a fashion trend of RED GOLD AND GREEN.So InI just wanted to ask "WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE RASTA & WHAT THE I'S ILIEF IS ON WHAT THEY THINK IS EXPECTED AND ACCEPTED OF InI AND ALL I RASTA"

to me it means finding Jah through any way, spreading the knowledge to others, "each one teach one", respect for all living things and uplifting all oppressed people all over the world and chanting down babylon.
seen?...

I believe it is expected to keep ourselves holy in mind, body and spirit.  To keep learning spiritually and uplift those around us.  Keep our focus in HIM, God's spirit and joy will flow..

Give thanks Brotha Ke & Peace_Loving,
Some times when InI read the posts that get a little heated in reasoning InI heart feel heavy, So InI decided to post this question more for a little groundation than any thing else, Sometimes We lose our way just a little when there is mis-overstanding, And it is not unusual for InI n all I to drift in our personal opinions on Rasta and forget the FOUNDATIONS of OUR FAITH. So InI posted this as much for InI benifit than any thing else. Some times its good to take it back to the FOUNDATIONS to gain a little strength  Raspect, overstanding and knowledge. to reconnect the body, heart and soul both Spiritually and imotionally.
Give thanks
Guidance and Itection

To InI Rasta is a profound and unashamed love for the Most I, purity of the mind, body and spirit and a raspect for all of Jah's creatures. There is no fashion to Rasta, no style, no way that a Rasta can be picked out of a crowd to InI, were all Jah's children. When a person says to InI "oh I love the way you dress, I love the rasta style its so cool!" sure it can be a little offensive but I guess we cant expect overstanding from everybody. I have missed the point.. sorry if i did. Jah bless

Greetings in the Name Of The Most High Jah RasTafari
Give thanks Maorilion....There is no right or wrong answer or on point or off point. Being Rasta means different things to all a we but we all agree on a few things ONE GOD ONE LOVE ONE AIM ONE INITY, I guess InI just wanted to remind InI in all I that our differences make we individual and beautiful and that The AllMighty Jah made our world so colourful by giving all a we different qualities and parsonalities but placed one thing the same in all ah WE hearts LOVE OF THE ALMIGHTY JAH RASTAFARI.
Peace and Love

Yes, we are all very different and unique but love the ONE TRUE GOD.  What a boring world if we were all the same. :-[

These differences sometimes do cause grief and ego's to come out and that is a very sad thing!  Love one another as Jah has always loved us.  We are all beautiful in HIS sight!  Bless up to those around you!

Peace

Greetings in The Name of the Most High JAH RASTAFARI
Blessed and Ivine Love, InI havent been here fi a week or so, and fulljoyed all the posts that InI had missed and the same thoughts kept running through InI  head
 "WHAT DOES BEING RASTA MEAN"
"AS INDIVIDUALS WHAT IS OUR OVERSTANDING ON WHAT IS EXPECTED"
  """"""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""IS ACCEPTED"
May be it is just InI but InI feel we are becoming too complaceant and accepting of certain things that actually go against the Teachings of Rasta We appear at times too eager to soothe I's ego instead of sometimes speaking up and speaking out, InI dont mean in a Dis- RASpectful way, but in truth and light, Ramember Father God said We are our Brothers Keeper, we cannot afford to accept things that go against the trod, InI am not posting this to cause dis-harmaony or heated reasoning but as a SoulJah feel the need to bring to light these things, fi all a we to binifit and grow stronger in RasTafari,
Holy Emmanuel I King Selassie I Jah RasTafari without Apology
Peace and Love

well I feel that we should all respect others believes. but just because we RASpect others believes doesn't mean we have to believe in the same thing.. seen?
I think that's what Jah would want us to do seen?

Give thanks Brotha Ke I guess InI really was hoping that we could break down our Iliefs instead of generalising, Rastafari is more than the feel good factor of One Love and the expectations of Rasta can differ fi some  and what is acceptable again differs, Jah set a livity fi us to follow so we would know and overstand what is expected of we as children of Jah, so to aid we in our trod,  InI overstand that many of we here at Nicks ilieve Rasta to be a lot of things so this is why InI is asking
Peace and Love

Blessed Love

Being Rasta in these times is foremost a realization of the significance of these times. Serious times!!
Realizing what it really means to live in a 'post-coronation' world. One must realign ALL that they have been taught through out their lives, sometimes abandoning family and friends to follow ones heart in the love of god, and desire to work for his will. Rasta is laying the groundwork for JAH's millennial kingdom, Not with roads and buildings but the 'infrastructure of the mind'. Everything else is detail, JAH calls us to be Spiritual Warriors, and once our Spiritual Battle is won, the rest will just fall into place like magic. Nice Up Nya!

Peace

As someone who is unashamedly rasta despite living in the heart of a babylon country there are several things that are Issential.   Firstly the recognition that African is the motherland and that to Africa we must all repatriate, however repartraition can take many forms whilst it would be prefferential to repartiate in body it is equally important to repatriate the mind.   The physical can be limiting but the spirit is free from all the constraints of moden life and as such there is no excuse for not freeing the mind.

Above even that though is the acceptance that the trickery that we get teach in school is an illusion, A complete love and obediance to the teachings of his majesty is a must and an absolute raspect for bredda and sistrens opinons.

Love is absoloute but not a foolish unhindered love, tough love is needed sometimes fo educate people and bring them too the right path, whilst we love freely we also love dearly and as such cannot be seen to waste our love on those who will not fulljoy the blessings of being loved.

Rasta is not a religion or a believe because wherever there is believe doubt can creep in and there should be no doubt when trodding on the righteous path, absolute faith in the guiding hand of JAH the almighty Irator.

To rasta means an acceptance of everyone but that does not mean the same as tolerance, through we sight the truth we must speak the truth.   Also as rasta and as being called too the righteous path it is saldy a fact that babylon will try every trick to cause us to stumble, love and raspect for InInI is a must, babylon causes enough problems so mek wi stand strong together.

JAH is LOVE so let us all love

Beautiful words from all!
At this point in my life Rasta means to me...
Accepting those who are the way they are but not necessarily agreeing nor tolerating their lifestyles.
Loving all no matter what race or creed they are.
Being honest and truthful in my day to day dealings with all.
Trying to overcome and overstand the crimes of the past and why they happened.
Like Sistah Nyah, trying to be tolerant and overstanding of i own european ancestors.
Where is Jah to Me?
Everywhere. In the wind that blows through i trees and garden right now, to the bright sunny days and beyond. Jah is everywhere i go and i know and believe that.

Jah, is everywhere indeed!  I pray Jah to lead and guide me everyday as I must deal with very confused/lost people.  They are misguided in thinking that the very petty things in life are the most important.  I must walk away and not partake in this behavior.  I pray that my trodding a different higher path will be an inspiration to others.

Rastafari is having compassion, love and patience with others that are on their own path to trod.  Blessings to all on this board as you inspire me to higher ground!

Bless UP!
