I've heard him rap and watch him on film. He is a very talented man who I think we'll be hearing a lot more of in the future.

the thing about him is that he has a message! unlike rappers who rap about hoes and guns and money, he raps about life and brothers and sisters. i agree, i think we'll be hearing from him a lot more!

peace! [smiley=smiley.gif]

Mos def along with Talib Kweli are two of the most consciece rappers scince the death of tupac. their topics are highly politically driven but they dont sacrifice the quality of their music to do this

Greetings and peace.

I am a fan of Mos Def and his music, but lately he has been putting out sub par tracks. His latest cd was more than a disappointment. I still have mad respect for him.

As far as Nas, he is a contradictory hypocrite. He is extremely talented and lyrical, but his messages are confusing. On one hand he is preaching, then he is talking about f*#@ing ho's and flashing ice and the chrome on his rims and slanging drugs, etc. I am quickly losing respect for him. His first album was a classic, now I think he's confused. He's one of the main reasons I started rapping, but I have followed his path and have become disappointed.

Still, mad respect to Mos Def for keeping it true and keeping it real.

E.M.HTP!!!

Yeah mos is hot! I had the pleasure of touring with him for lyrics lounge tour back in 2000 thru 2001. Along with dead prez, words worth, & roots to name a few. Not only is most records are positively slaming his personality in my opinion is excellent! Especially in the snake biz of the music industry.

Dub
Nas is hard to overstand but you have to realize the everyday enviroment of the american black ghetto. And Nas, I must admit, projects all elemets of that enviroment. No its not ALL about guns and ho's and nas does spit wisdom of life and what it can bring you.....like guns and ho's!!!! I mean nas doesn't make it fanasty he keeps it real in all subject involving street life. That's why to me he is the best "industry" rapper alive!

Hey, I love Mos Def too! as a powerful hiphop artist he can't be beat and I'm real excited about getting to see him on screen alot more too! Only I don't know any other MosDef fans, cos I like loads of other music too and not just a hiphop/rap fan, but I'm not into 'gangsta' rap and that stuff. I rate Mos as a musician and innovator - he's just well cool (hey - is he more popular with females or what?!!) Gutted that the brixton academy show got cancelled - does anyone know what thats all about??

wassup? i was surfing the net cos i got tickets for mos def and wanted to see if the brixton show was on. also gutted! i'm feeling the conscious, soulful vibe-like the rock-out too, was really looking forward to seeing the live show. never mind. know why he cancelled?i've been loving reggae music since the 80's. uk music scene is highly influenced by jamaican music obviously. just check Roots Manuva for a wicked uk hiphop-dub style.  peace.
