# 23rd July - celebration of the birth of Tafari Makonnen (Haile Sellassie)
# 17th August - Birth of Marcus Garvey
# 27th August - The reported death of Haile Sellassie I........a celebration that he lives on within our spirits.
# 11 September - Ethiopian new year
# 2nd November - Anniversary of the crowning of Ras Tafari Makonnen - Emperor Haile Sellassie I Power of the Holy Trinity, Two Hundred and twenty-fifth Emperor of the Solomonic Dynasty, Elect of god, Lord of lords, Negus Negast kings of kings, Conquering lion of the tribe of Judah )

Then I guess those who believe in Jesus celebrate christmas.. I dont, because I dont beleive in Christ. Hmm.. I cant come up with no more.

Cause it's his choice not to, and fortunately there are still some places in the world that allow freedom of choice. [smiley=smiley.gif]
Anyway, we only celebrate christmas in our house cause i have two children. I don't place any significance on the holiday as it doesn't mean that much to me and i usually end up working.
A long time ago i did find a web site that listed all the holidays for Rastafari but i can't remember what it is now. I may still have the info somewhere. If i find it i will let you know. [smiley=smiley.gif]

Instead of being surprised that SMG doesn't believe in christ.
I would have to wonder why you would asuume that everyone does. [smiley=huh.gif]
All you have to do is read a few posts on this forum to see that there
is a great diversity of beliefs.
And like Wahine said, it's a choice each of us makes.
No one can or should make it for anyone else.
That's one of the nice things about Jah giving us freedom of choice.
If Jah's good with letting us decide for ourselves i guess we can extend that
courtacy to each other as well.   [smiley=smiley.gif]

And keep your belief SmG.
Let not others make that choice for you. Let not this World be consumed by others beliefs. I say be your own person. Only you can know what is right for you.
Bless.

How are these different holidays celebrated?  And InI agree with Wahine.  Believe what you believe.  The world would be boring if everybody believed the exact same thing.

Black you have wonderful questions. Some that have been on the tip of my tongue. I seek to overstand the ways of RastafarI. They always seem to relate with what I have felt was right for a long time. Morality! [smiley=cheesy.gif]
