Washington D.C. April 2-5
« on: March 27, 2006, 10:45:29 PM »

Greetings,

My wife (tigerinatrance) and I will be in D.C. this weekend and into next week.  (little business, little cherry blossoms, little museums)  I remember a discussion of a possible Rasta exhibit being discussed within the Smithsonian --  [smiley=huh.gif] but I cyan find nothing about it.

As always, we are looking to meet other good people within the city.  Can anyONE suggest a place to go for good music, ital food or anything related to the HIM the King of Kings in the D.C. area.

Thanks for all your consideration.

One Love,
Scott

Look out for local reggae music there. Before Midnite hit it big and started releasing massive albums at mass rates and touring widley - they were playing to and pulsating oversized crowds in Washington DC for a couple years.

I believe theres one or two local dub acts there worth catching too...just keep conscious for advertising

Thank you Empress Carla and Positive V!

That is exactly what I was looking for, I'm going to call the Smithsonian now.

E.M.HTP

Flordia Ave. is called little Addis. Big Ethiopian community. At night reggae with plenty carribbean bands. You'll find a lot of reggae clothes and ethiopian clothing shops & restaurants.

Much thanks Tree--I hope to get out of my seminar and head over there!

I've been looking for the Rasta Exhibit within the Smithsonian but have had no luck locating it.  On the other hand, I've located many interesting exhibits and museums that may hold similar historical/cultural information especially this one:

National Museum of African Art:
