Just let the I hair grow.  Wash with clear water.  Iman have realized that the goal is not necesarily DREADLOCKS but the process by which they happen to come about.  It is just letting the I hair grow and it will naturally lock.

Quote
[1] And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
[2] Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When either man or woman shall separate themselves to vow a vow of a Nazarite, to separate themselves unto the LORD:
[3] He shall separate himself from wine and strong drink, and shall drink no vinegar of wine, or vinegar of strong drink, neither shall he drink any liquor of grapes, nor eat moist grapes, or dried.
[4] All the days of his separation shall he eat nothing that is made of the vine tree, from the kernels even to the husk.
[5] All the days of the vow of his separation there shall no rasor come upon his head: until the days be fulfilled, in the which he separateth himself unto the LORD, he shall be holy, and shall let the locks of the hair of his head grow.
[6] All the days that he separateth himself unto the LORD he shall come at no dead body.
[7] He shall not make himself unclean for his father, or for his mother, for his brother, or for his sister, when they die: because the consecration of his God is upon his head.
[8] All the days of his separation he is holy unto the LORD.
[9] And if any man die very suddenly by him, and he hath defiled the head of his consecration; then he shall shave his head in the day of his cleansing, on the seventh day shall he shave it.
[10] And on the eighth day he shall bring two turtles, or two young pigeons, to the priest, to the door of the tabernacle of the congregation:
[11] And the priest shall offer the one for a sin offering, and the other for a burnt offering, and make an atonement for him, for that he sinned by the dead, and shall hallow his head that same day.
[12] And he shall consecrate unto the LORD the days of his separation, and shall bring a lamb of the first year for a trespass offering: but the days that were before shall be lost, because his separation was defiled.
[13] And this is the law of the Nazarite, when the days of his separation are fulfilled: he shall be brought unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation:
[14] And he shall offer his offering unto the LORD, one he lamb of the first year without blemish for a burnt offering, and one ewe lamb of the first year without blemish for a sin offering, and one ram without blemish for peace offerings,
[15] And a basket of unleavened bread, cakes of fine flour mingled with oil, and wafers of unleavened bread anointed with oil, and their meat offering, and their drink offerings.
[16] And the priest shall bring them before the LORD, and shall offer his sin offering, and his burnt offering:
[17] And he shall offer the ram for a sacrifice of peace offerings unto the LORD, with the basket of unleavened bread: the priest shall offer also his meat offering, and his drink offering.
[18] And the Nazarite shall shave the head of his separation at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, and shall take the hair of the head of his separation, and put it in the fire which is under the sacrifice of the peace offerings.
[19] And the priest shall take the sodden shoulder of the ram, and one unleavened cake out of the basket, and one unleavened wafer, and shall put them upon the hands of the Nazarite, after the hair of his separation is shaven:
[20] And the priest shall wave them for a wave offering before the LORD: this is holy for the priest, with the wave breast and heave shoulder: and after that the Nazarite may drink wine.
[21] This is the law of the Nazarite who hath vowed, and of his offering unto the LORD for his separation, beside that that his hand shall get: according to the vow which he vowed, so he must do after the law of his separation.
[22] And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
[23] Speak unto Aaron and unto his sons, saying, On this wise ye shall bless the children of Israel, saying unto them,
[24] The LORD bless thee, and keep thee:
[25] The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:
[26] The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
[27] And they shall put my name upon the children of Israel; and I will bless them.
That is Numbers chapter 6, about the Nazarite Vow

not to be a hypocrite, Iman did not start I locks naturally, that was before I started troddin.  For some time now Iman have let it grow naturally, and small locks are forming naturally in the back of I head.
Jah bless

Seen, Bredda Matthew.
Me too. You know, i use to say dat it's like ras antennas, reaching out for righteousness, even when i was an atheist and all dat.
But now, when I&I see JAH, I&I nuh like dem fashiondread, seen.
Because you may not use JAHs name, his scriptures or his laws in vanity!
To be a fashiondread is to use the naziritevow in vanity!

Ites Fellow Warrior
Don't try to make the hair grow faster, there is a cause dat it grows slowly.
Because your hair, your dreads is roots of wisdom. And you nah grow wisdom overnight.
If you are tru ras, you nah care dat you are short-haired in a little while. Because, as I&I said, the nazirite vow shall not be taken in vanity. It's nah looks, it's believes and purity.
Therefore: wait, wait & learn. Read Jah scriptures while di locks dem grow.
Talk to an elder, if you know one, or maybe an priest or an rabbi, learn JAHs will as good as you can.
At some point, your hair will be big, righteous, clean antennas and roots, bredda.

And therefore, my only advice for growing your hair faster is: Read faster, read more, overstand JAH as good as you can. Always remember that you must show JAH dat you are worthy to be H.I.M.s servant and warrior, do that by wisdom, love and righteousness, not by looks or an cool image.

Raspect for taking di nazirite vow.

Locks is a natural way of having a ones hair, i know about the Nazarene vow and all that, still locks is all about following the laws of nature,(laws of the almighty)  my hair naturally grows and if i don't do anything unnatural to my hair it grows into locks, nature tells me this

Yes I Faadaras,
It's right what you say, though there is nothing like an "nazarene vow," Nazarenes was early followers of Jesus, dat didn't accept the babylonian breakdown wit di law, dat all other christians believed in.
The Nazirite vow is the dreadlocks/no wine/no dead corpses-vow. Jah Sampson and Ras Samuel, from Di Old Testament, was nazirites.

I belief tells me dat just letting di hair grow natty is good, also when you are not taking di nazirite vow, because it's part of di vow, and di vow is a cleanliness-vow. Therefore is not to cut di hair clean in Jahs eyes.
Yes I, hair will grow at JAHs will, and it will grow natty, it will grow as roots inna the I's head.

I have cut I locks twice already but neva again.
It is not that I tek any vow put forth by any other, but a personal ting, between i and I creator, a symbol of I faith.
Still I eat grapes, anyting growing but not flesh.
There comes a time when yah jes hafe state what you are and stand tall and proud.
I and I wear dem locks like a crown!!!!!

Bless Up Family

InI smile when InI take in these types of discussions.  Once, seems like not so long ago InI was going through the choices of how to dred too.  Now InI don't know where the times went.  InI remember when the natty was on InI's shoulders, middle of InI's back, at InI's waist, even at InI's knees.  Now InI have to tie them in knots to shorten them to InI's legs so InI can move about freely without tangling everywhere.  When InI am hot at sleep with them open, InI have to untangle Iself each morning as the natty is under InI's Kingman, around him, wrapped like a blanket.  In his hands and so forth.  One moment it couldn't be long enough or grow fast enough.  At 39 it is almost scary and try washing it alone.  Impossible.  Takes nearly a day to dry, if the sun is out.  Can't hold InI's neck up when it's wet.  Try swimming in the ocean everyday.  But it's also a sexy, beautiful robe and it's a wonder to many that sight it and Identify InI as a Dawtah of Jah Rastafari.

So what am InI saying?  InI guess it's take yuh time and enjoy the ride.

Nuff Love
