Which instrument?
« on: November 25, 2007, 05:35:10 AM »

Bless up

Which instrument do yah think is best suited to music about RasTafarI?

For InI its a throw up between the djembe, the acoustic guitar and the steel drum.

Greetings in The Name of The Most High Jah RasTafari
The Binghy Drum is the drum that is heard in 99% of RASTA music. It is mostly referred to as Niahbinghi Rasta Drumming, after the Order of Niahbinghi RasTafari, who's founding father is Bro Gong-g'un Guru Maragh [Leonard P Howell [the first public preacher of HIM Ivinity]It is InI overstanding that it adapted from the Afrikan spiritual and drumming troditions of Ghana/Congo =Burru/Kumina in or about 1930's.Niahbinghi music is strictly prayer music inspiring Ivotion to the Most High,RasTafari and to the righteous Livity of InI.Food fi InI soul,

The I's in here can also check out Ras Michael & The Sons of Negus, Count Ossie & The Mystic Revelation of Rastafari, The riddims: Maroon Riddim, and Kette Drum Riddim.
Iman would Isernally recommend the Trojan Nyahbinghi Box Set (and all Count Ossie)
