@MaoriLion:
Do you eat pork?
Do you have dreadlocks?
Do you keep the Sabbath holy?
Do you keep the "10 commandments"?

I would like to hear your answer, brother.

ITES.

Yes I MaoriLion!
You are living after the law, just not the whole of it!  :)
If the Torah only was a book for guidance, then we could just eat pork, cut our hair, fool around on the friday evening and the saturday day.

To live after some of the laws, but not them all, is just the same as living after 9 of the 10 commandments and then not to honour our parents.

Positive Ites Brother I

@RootsRidge:
True, true, but one day JAH choose for I&I to keep "extra" holy. JAH rest at the seventh day, we rest at the seventh day. - Logic.  :)

Brother Adam I know that circumcision is in the Torah and what not but as a Ras I just can't approve of cutting the flesh, simple as that. And it is nice to discuss and not argue, the bredrens are all right there!

Jah bless.

Ites & Blessings
Iman overstand what the I means, brother Maori
But the I must look in the scriptures.
In the 613 laws we have the Ten Commandments - and in them we have "thou shall not kill."
But other places in the Torah and in the Tanach, JAH command the jews to kill - fx self defense against pagans.
Therefore - a law is only a law when it is not "overruled" by another law, if the I overstand.
We must not kill for anything in the world, but when JAH want us to kill, we must kill. This sounds maybe a little scary, but He, Adonai God, is not fooling around for fun.
And yes, there is a law that say we must not cut into the flesh (like masochism, tattoos etc etc.) but when JAH before in the torah states that everyone who believe in Him should be circumcised, then it is a greater authority, so I&I truly overstand the meaning of the commandment/law.

Another thought which I don't quite understand is why exactly circumcision is holy.

Ites Brothers Roots, Ke & Maori
@MaoriLion:
The circumcision is holy because JAH is holy and JAH command it upon us. Just like why is the sabbath holy? It's just a day a week! But it is holy because JAH say so - and JAH knows everything and is for-Iver loving and seeing. Circumcision is also a mark, a symbol, on us the holy people of YAHWEH Adonai God, that we are his sheep, and that He are the shepherd.
Psalm 23:
"The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever."

It is just also good for clean livity because of the physical cleanliness because of it. It is a symbol for life that we can't just wipe away if we get taken by heathen of pagan religion as atheism or hindu.
The law of circumcision, Brit Milah, was first given to the first jew, Abraham, the ancestor. It is the first commandment which is specific for JAH people.
It also means lower risk of certain cancers, for the one circumcised and for the princess who is in bed with the one circumcised. And actually the old, traditional overstanding of circumcision is that if one believer in Adonai JAH does not get cirumsised, he has no place in the world to come.

Again, I'm just stating I view and elders wisdom.

also a practical reason.

circumcision (for very young) is a relatively safe and easy procedure,

that's why i think circumcision was chosen

u will find that 'holy piercings/cutting into felsh' are easy simple operations

like in some religions ear piercing for example
