Rastafari - Reality or Religion?
« on: May 15, 2008, 12:57:33 PM »

I was involved in a debate with my class about this subject at college yesterday, my opinion is that Rastafari is reality not Religion, and i was shouted down by everyone else in my class claiming Rastafari is a Religion, which i found quite ignorant as none of them have a clue about Rastafari.
I am new to this site but not new to Rastafari.
I believe Rastafari is a reality and not a Religion because any one person can become Rasta by their own choice, by finding their true self and gaining wisdom on a confusing world.  I believe Rastafari has been globalized like a religion but is in fact just people finding themselves, finding wisdom, one love and spirituality.
There's a lot more i can say about this but i would like to hear everyone Else's views please.

Babylon needs Rastafari to be a religion because they don't understand I and I, and anything they don't understand makes them scared. Of course "Rastafari" is not a religion. But nuff so-called Rasta people don't even know this so don't expect Babylon to agree. Big Up U self Irie.

Im always say Rastafari is an Identity. One can overstand dem identity as reality as well. Thats what makes it a religious conversation. How one lives, dem fundamental overstandings of their existence (what people call faith/g-d etc.) is a function of dem identity.
