« on: May 22, 2008, 11:52:45 PM »

With all these "Can I Be Rasta" posts - I just want to spread some confidence to the youth dem, from InI poet idren Ras Earl . . .

"Sometimes I scrape up pork inna mi fork
Sometimes I tuck in my shirt fi go to work
Sometimes I turn down ganja for a lickle wine I'm afta
But I know Selassie so I am a Rasta"

Pork is deemed unclean you should not eat it, the Lord has specified what we can and cant eat and to ignore that is ignorance towards the Lord.

The pork is a tough call, really. NT scripture seems to indicate there is no unclean meat.

That said, I have recently switched from raising pigs to goats.

THAT said, no, I haven't eaten any of the goats. Yet.

Bros and sisters is it not more important to believe in the lords word rather than to get caught up with the less important being good within and accepting jah is the main thing i believe so the occasional pork or wine even though it damages i must it stop me from being a real rasta?

I am new to the rasta way forgive me for any errors in my not yet so straight mind.

thankyou.

Well the laws we have come directly from Jah, so following them means you are following his word. Not following them out of choice means you are suggesting Jah's teachings are not important.

Yes Idren, babylon society is hard, many things people do may be seen as less than righteous by others.  What makes a person a Rasta is his or her love for Imanity, love for Jah, love for Jahs earth.  Though we should strive to follow commandments of Jah, InI am sure he will forgive us for the minor infractions :)

Personally Iman dont dig pork or wine, but to each his own. Who are we to judge?

Bless up family
